GMobileSync

The most amazing piece of software that I have found after the my switch to Pocket PC from Palm 3 months ago has got to be this, GMobileSync. And it has just been released this month, and it’s FREE!

I have hated Microsoft Outlook since day 1 of my Pocket PC use. It’s just dumb, requiring too many unnecessary clicks for simple actions, and the 2-way syncing is problematic.

The moment I have found this software and got it working (after some help from Eric, the author), I am happy that my Pocket PC’s calendar will be useful again like my Palm days. It enables me to use Google Calendar, with features as good as any desktop calendar application and sync it to my Pocket PC using Eric’s free software. And with the fact that the calendar is web-based, it means that my calendar will be accessible not just on my Pocket PC but any computers in the world that are connected to the net. Not just that, I can then do without the buggy Microsoft ActiveSync for data syncing and would be able to sync my pocket calendar across any Wi-Fi connection.

Eric is simply efficient with answering technical support questions on his blog and also is very efficient at fixing bugs and coming up with new releases every few days.

I have pledged on the blog that I am going to donate some to encourage and thank him for making such a fine piece of software as soon as he gets the donation function up.

Do check out GMobileSync if you are a Pocket PC user and are, like me, hate Microsoft Outlook for calendar.
