Ipod Windows Worm

What’s with all those Mac being virus-free advertising campaign (MOV) that Apple’s holding and they’re shipping Ipods with Windows virus?

Troj/Bdoor-DIJ is a backdoor Trojan for the Windows platform. The Trojan contacts several remote sites to report the infection and availability of the backdoor.

Knowing of this news got me really upset over Apple’s ignorance. This is definitely not a bug in a software. It’s not a hole in the code that results in such vulnerability. A bug doesn’t phone home. This is deliberately planted by some personnel along the production line. How can Apple, being such a key company in technology let such thing happen and yet they repeatedly claim themselve as a hardware company.

Even though this worm isn’t really that serious and can be detected by most major anti-virus softwares, but the fact that a big hardware corporation that we all trust and that keeps boasting about the security of their products let deliberately-planted virus being shipped with their products is simply unacceptable to me.

And to make things worse, they still dare to blame others:

Apple is “upset at Windows for not being more hardy against such viruses,” but they’re “even more upset with ourselves for not catching it.”

Any script kiddie can plant virus or do any damange to any systems in the world when it has physical root access to the system.

Although I do not own an Ipod, but as a security conscious person, I’m really upset over such incident.
