Preparing for Taiwan Trip

I’ll be leaving for Taiwan this coming Thu with Sek Ling for a break.

Some questions:

1. Which prepaid mobile should I use? I would love to have GPRS/EDGE on my iPhone while I’m there for email checking and Google maps while on the move. Not really for intensive Internet usage as my hotel room should have Internet access.

2. Thinking of getting myself an ASUS Eee PC if it’s cheaper over there. Any advice on where I should be going for the best electronic bargains?

3. Anyone wants an Eee PC as well?

  2. Hey Uzyn, try VIBO’s SIMONME which is a pasted on SIM card on your current SIM card. You only need one phone but you’ll have to switch between the lines in your one phone. This SIM was designed by some people I’m working with, cool stuff.

    Back in Dec 07 when I was there, they already launched the Asus Eee PC 8GB model at the IT Show which came to Singapore only like 3-4 months later. I guess the best place to get it is at an IT show there if your trip is coinciding with any?

  3. The best place to shop for electronic gadgets was Guang Hwa computer market outside of 忠孝新生 MRT Station. If my conversion wasn’t wrong the last time I was there, my Sony Vaio cost S$500 cheaper there!

    But I’ve heard it has shifted to elsewhere.

    There’re also quite a number of Sim Lim Square style electronics shopping centre in front of Taipei Train Station. One big one is called Nova.

    But in any case I think Sekling will enjoy 西門町!
