Virtualization Rocks

This is so cool. Nah, didn’t do it for the coolness. It’s because my primary OS is Windows (Yes, laugh. I’m most efficient at it) but I need to use a Linux software for schoolwork. Rebooting is too much work.

The screenshot was taken from my desktop, with a 1GB of RAM and assigned 512MB to each OS. Tried to do it earlier on my laptop with 512MB RAM (256MB each) but was too slow to be useful. Would need a RAM upgrade really soon.

The best thing of virtualization is the state saving feature. With that, it makes booting and resuming work damn easy. Like Palm, except a few seconds more - a power button pressed and it’s on, no booting whatsoever, and back to the state where you last saved it.

  1. if u think this kinda virtualisation is cool… wait till u see software level virtualisation. It is plug n play software on the OS, no more DLL hell, or registry corruption…

check out Altiris software virtualization if u’re interested
