Raspberry Pi prices have been rising aggressively, driven by surging memory chip demand.
What makes it worse is how quickly the hikes have come — two rounds within just two months. The most recent price increase pushed some models to more than double their original MSRP.
I bought a Raspberry Pi 5 8GB for SGD 124 back in July 2025. It now sells for SGD 200–250 in Singapore. The 16GB model I had my eye on is currently retailing at SGD 315–450 — a far cry from the SGD 150 (USD 120 MSRP) it cost just a year ago.
Industry experts aren't optimistic about a quick recovery. Many are predicting relief at best by late 2027, as manufacturers take time to ramp up production. Consumer electronics prices are going to stay unfriendly for the next couple of years — and the OpenClaw-driven ordering frenzy consuming high-memory units certainly isn't helping.
